Where to begin? I have lived in Marshall County for most of my life. In 2004, I graduated from Forrest High School in Chapel Hill. Following graduation, I attended the University of Tennessee at Martin where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature.
I am not a traditional teacher, and this is only my third year teaching. After graduating from UTM in 2009, I began working as a paralegal in Franklin, Tennessee. My intentions were to attend law school, but life had other plans. I discovered after about a year that I wanted to do something different, so I began researching other possibilities. I continued working as a paralegal during this time, and in 2011, I decided to pursue a career in education. After researching various programs, I decided on Lipscomb University's Master of Education in Instructional Practice. In addition to teaching and attending grad school, I serve as one of the Student Council Advisors and as the Assistant Tennis Coach here at MCHS.
I love my job and the difference I get to make in students' lives! I care about every student who crosses my path, and it is my desire to see them succeed. It is one of the reasons I chose this profession. Additionally, I am always eager to learn, and education provides the opportunity to not only teach but to learn. I consider myself a life-long learner, so the ever-changing nature of education is exciting and perfect for me!
I am married to my high school sweetheart, Ryan. We have been married since 2011, but we have been together much longer (2001 to be exact)! He is a Civil Engineer for TDOT and is currently taking classes through the University of Tennessee for his Master of Science in Civil Engineering.
I love baseball and the Atlanta Braves! I attend at least one game a year. When it comes to college football, we bleed orange in our home! Go Vols! I enjoy reading, watching movies, and getting wrapped up in interesting television series. I like things to be organized and neat; I notice quickly if something is out of place. Lastly, I love traveling and would love to arrange trips to various places during the summer while I am at MCHS where students can go as well.
I am looking forward to getting to know each of my students and helping them reach their full potential!
